I would like to present with you my latest work on zbrush and I will talk about my steps and my techniques.
So firstly this's my day 10 in character design and I have no experience in sclupting or character modeling but I'm environment and lighting artist for 14 years so I have a long experience in the 3d industry.
So I will start first with my research steps.
In this portrait I decided to made one of the best doctor's around the world he's DR Magdi Yacoub, and to make his face it was not easy by the way because I still beginner but I tried to do my best to makes him the same as possible.
So I started to collect some reference and I started to look at him from all sides and then I started with sphere to make my base shape of skull and then I add more and more details to get his real shape and actually this way works very will when you understood the skull shape and then add the skin and the details on it.
After I finished my sclupting I started to made my material.
For skin textures I used substance painter
I started with polypaint colors to get the same variation of his skin and then I used base texture for some parts.
For clothing I was very cared to choose the suit colors because it will reflected on my final result.
After I finished I started to research again on Google to see what's the best way to take portrait shot for a famous and gentleman
And I found a lot of references so I started to make my studio lighting setup on 3d max and vray and I was very cared for my lighting balance and background color's .
I used vray GPU rendering and new vray skin shader material included vray next.
